Siobhan Beaton's work articulates a poetic reclamation of expended objects, in particular plastic rubbish over the past year. Materially, rubbish represents the shadow object world, a ghostly presence left over from commodity production and consumption - valueless. The shadow can also refer to an unconscious aspect of the personality which the conscious does not identify.

Recent work includes reclaimed acrylic bags and assemblages using used plastic dental sticks which blur the line between traditional and non traditional art materials. Beaton is interested in psychoanalytic theories based around play, such as Melanie Klein's, in exploring physical experience as a way of understanding the world and looking at everything as having the potential to be something else: reusing, recycling and repeating.
