This piece was made using natural materials found in the environment and communicates ideas about the passing of time. Dropped feathers found on a barn floor where swallows nest every year were collected over Spring and Summer. Photograms were then created in the darkroom with the collected feathers which subsequently became a hand made book. Symbolically, swallows can be seen as a sign of something ending, perhaps because of the link between these birds and the seasons of Spring and Summer; something wonderful which will unavoidably end.
